FAISALABAD: Health Department has decided to launch a crackdown against unlicensed restaurants and food and beverage companies, Executive District Officer Waqar Sadiq said on Thursday. He said new businesses were required by law under the Food Ordinance to get licences before starting service. He said it had been observed that several restaurants, hotels and administrations of food and beverage companies were not implementing the orders. For the convenience of business owners, he said, the department had divided payment of annual licence fee in three categories ranging from Rs1,000 to Rs50,000 depending on type and size. He said owners had been issued notices several times, but they did not abide by the rules. The EDO said the crackdown would be launched without any discrimination.
