Separate incidents: Policeman injured in Urmar

PESHAWAR:
A police constable was injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire at him from a van at the police checkpoint in Urmar on Thursday night. The constable identified as Tariq Bacha was patrolling a checkpoint on Urmar Road when the incident took place. Passengers in the van started shooting to evade routine checking when the police signaled them to stop. Bacha was left injured. The police also responded through retaliatory fire, but the culprits sped away and escaped. Following the drive-by shooting, the police launched a search operation, but no arrests were made till this report was filed. Meanwhile, a girl identified as Sakina was found dead in Kababian, Absahar Colony. The police said she went missing from Hayatabad a few days ago and her body was found late Thursday night. An official said she had been shot and her family had been informed of her death. An FIR has yet not been registered as yet.
