ABBOTABAD:

A division bench of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) has ordered attaching the salary of Abbottabad Deputy Commissioner Matiullah Khan for not filing his comments in the Shimla Hill case. The commissioner ignored the court order to submit his comments within the given time.

Advocate Zafar Iqbal filed a writ petition this past April wanting to declare Shimla Hill as a national park and banning the acquisition of land, new construction and clearing encroachment in the area.

The petitioner named the Abbottabad DC, Hazara commissioner, federal and provincial governments, secretary of forest and the director general for environment as respondents.

According to Iqbal, the last date to for the commissioner to submit his reply was November 28. The divisional bench comprising Justice Seth Waqar and Justice Irshad Qaisar issued the orders.
