KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party-Shaheed Bhutto chairperson Ghinwa Bhutto has termed Sindh Local Government Act, 2013, a local business act but, at the same time, has announced that her party would contest the upcoming elections. Addressing a party meeting on Wednesday at her residence in Karachi, she said, “We will contest the election with fist as our party symbol.” Bhutto criticised the provincial government on making the local government law which, according to her, revolves around the allotment of lands and allows corrupt mafia in the government to sell and purchase costly land.  “I have gone through this act which lacks socio-economic autonomy that should have been devolved at grass-roots level. They have again given landlords the power to loot and plunder public wealth.”  She asked the people to read the law, adding that it seemed the IMF had dictated it to the government. Despite this, the party would take part in the electoral process because they believe in bringing change in a democratic manner, she added.
