PESHAWAR:

The severed head of a man identified as Asfandyar Khan, a resident of Badhaber, was found in a gunny bag on Telaband Road on Tuesday. He was wanted by the police in a number of attacks on security forces and law enforcement agencies.

The police said Asfandyar was arrested for the remote-controlled car bomb attack at the house of former nazim of Bazid Khel, Fahim Khan. He had been acquitted by the court and was in hiding since.

“Asfandyar was also wanted in another attack on security forces on Kohat Road near Badhaber police station,” said a police official, adding although the body was missing, they had found his head. It was taken to the police station and later handed over to the family for burial.

“He was an active member of the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Islam and was in hiding in Bara, Khyber Agency,” said the official.
