Babar Awan runs over former nazim

SIALKOT: Abdul Manaan Saddal, former nazim of Sialkot’s Kotli Loharaan Union Council, was injured after being run over by the official jeep of federal Law Minister Babar Awan in the city near Sublime Chowk.

The minister was said to be driving the vehicle himself.

The accident occurred as the minister backed the vehicle out of the hotel in a hurry. He was on his way to the Dhalleywali village.

Reportedly, Awan was driving his jeep himself when he backed out of the hotel to go to the nearby village of Dhalleywali-Head Marala and injured Saddal due to the rush of the Pakistan People’s Party workers there.

Saddal sustained serious injuries. After the accident, Awan is said to have bundled the injured man into his jeep, where the minister and his companions gave him first aid treatment.

Saddal said that his condition was stable.

Babar Awan was in Sialkot because federal Minister for Population welfare Firdous Ashiq Awan had invited him to Dhalleywali-Head Marala for the inauguration of the Sui gas supply projects.

Awan is at present federal Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs of Pakistan.

He is also a Senator in Pakistan’s upper house of parliament, and a practicing lawyer and member of the Pakistan Peoples Party’s Central Executive Committee. Awan won Senate elections in 2006 unopposed.

Naeem Qureshi Lahore | 14 years ago | Reply I could not understand what was the business of an unconcerned minister? Neither he is minister for natural resources nor belongs to the village. In fact number-making and getting more and more connections with the nearers of president and prime minister caused this incident that Dr. Miss ASHIQ Awan did.
