Curbing wheat smuggling: Section 144 imposed in parts of Sindh

This was done to avert illegal transportation of wheat outside province and to seize elements involved in activity.

KARACHI: The Sindh Government has imposed Section 144 in areas bordering with Balochistan as to avert illegal transportation of wheat outside the province and to seize elements involved in the activity. Sindh Food Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, in a statement on Sunday, warned the wheat dealers not to be involved in hoarding of the food commodity.  He asked them to immediately bring out the wheat stocks being held by them for sale at officially approved rates. In case of non-compliance, he warned, that not only their stocks would be confiscated but they might also be arrested also.
