The Sindh High Court Bar Association’s annual election was cancelled on Saturday following alleged irregularities of the code of conduct in the polling process by some contestants.
Lawyers alleged that after the lunch break some lawyers started disrupting the process by instructing the voters, particularly the females, to wait for long time to cast their votes. “This made many voters angry, who returned without polling their votes,” a lawyer told The Express Tribune.
The polling was halted and the commissioner called a meeting of the candidates. Later, the election commissioner Akhtar Ali Mehmood announced cancellation of the election, which would now be held on November 30.
