Reshuffle: Islamabad DC changed

Ahmed was appointed Islamabad DC on Sep 29, 2007, before which he had served as Additional Deputy Commissioner.

One of Islamabad’s longest-tenured city managers was transferred on Saturday, as deputy commissioner Amir Ali Ahmed was moved to the Capital Development Authority (CDA). Ahmed has been appointed as the CDA’s new administration director, while Mujahid Sherdil, a DMG officer who was earlier serving as the personal staff officer to the prime minister, has been made new DC Islamabad, according to establishment division notifications.

Ahmed was appointed Islamabad DC on September 29, 2007, before which he had served as an Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC). He was the longest-tenured Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration official before the transfer.

According to an ICT official, in 2009, Ahmed was made officer on special duty (OSD) after allegedly refusing to grant political favours. However, he was restored to his former post after three months. The official added that Ahmed had done a tremendous job as DC and was an honest officer.

When contacted, Ahmed confirmed the transfer and said he would be taking his new charge on Monday.
