A large number of fish died after a poisonous chemical was dumped into a fish pond near village Wahid Bux Sethar, situated in Naudero police limits.
Arz Muhammad Mirbahar filed a complaint with the Naudero police station stating that unidentified men added poisonous chemicals into his fishpond, which caused the death of fish worth thousands of rupees.
However, Mirbahar stated that he has no enemies and does not know why anyone would kill his fish. Contrary to rumours, this was not a case of extortion, with Mirbahar stating that he had not received any extortion demand.
According to assistant head constable Tanveer, Mirabahar had rented the pond on a two-year contract from Wahid Bux Sethar for Rs500,000.
Around 700,000 fish were present in the pond when seven unidentified men dumped the chemical on November 18. A police team that visited the pond confirmed that all fish were dead. The police have yet to make any arrests.
