Chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain has urged the government and the judiciary to “respect and protect each other”. Addressing a public gathering ahead of the by-election on provincial assembly seat PS-94, Orangi Town, he reiterated his call for eliminating the obsolete feudal system and corruption, adding that it was vital to save the country from disaster.

Stressing the need for overcoming ethnic, religious and sectarian barriers, he said that Orangi Town was an area of loyal party workers of all caste and creed. Addressing the Pakhtun people of the area, he urged them to forge unity with Urdu-speaking people and said that they had been misguided by vested elements and they should now realise that his party was the only one looking after their welfare.
