Karachi: Ban on pillion-riding extended till Muharram 14

KARACHI:  Sindh Interior Ministry announced on Sunday that pillion-riding will be banned in Karachi for an additional two days till Muharram 14, Express News reported.

Officials said the ban has been lifted off the rest of the province, but will stay in place in the metropolis to maintain tight security.

Provincial governments across Pakistan had imposed the ban on pillion-riding to ensure effective security during Muharram 9 and 10.

On a police request, the ban was then extended for two days. On another request, it has now been prolonged for two more.

An enhanced security apparatus was able to ensure a peaceful for Muharram for Karachiites this year.

Why don't the government of Pakistan understands that ban on pillion riding is not the solution to all the problems.
