Violence in Pindi: Capital put on high alert

The police have been directed to carry out strict checking at all entry and exit points of the city.

ISLAMABAD: In the wake of violence in Rawalpindi, security has been beefed up in the federal capital as additional contingents of police have been deployed at sensitive places and important buildings. Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sikandar Hayat Khan has directed the police to ensure elaborate security arrangements in all sensitive areas, said a press release issued on Saturday. The police have been directed to carry out strict checking at all entry and exit points of the city besides increasing patrolling on roads. “The IGP has also issued directives for effective coordination among all wings of the police.
