Leather sector: France extends technical assistance

Pakistan’s leather industry is in a dire need of modernisation, especially in fashion and designing, says French envoy

SIALKOT: French Ambassador in Pakistan Phillippe Thiebaud has said France will help Pakistan improve the leather and leather garments industry besides technical assistance in fashion designing. He expressed the views in a meeting with office-bearers of the Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PLGMEA) on Tuesday. PLGMEA Chairman Maj (retd) Rafiq Sethi told the French ambassador that Pakistan’s leather industry was second in the world after Italy. He said that Pakistan’s leather industry was in a dire need of modernisation, especially in fashion and designing, adding that technical support by France would help boost and modernise it.
