KARACHI: The Pakistan Federation Baseball (PFB) continues to hold its camp for the Asian Games 2014 – in Incheon, Korea – at the University of Punjab in Lahore.

The camp, which initially held 38 probables from around the country, shortlisted 30 players after being underway for 15 days, to carry on training for next year’s event.

According to PFB Secretary Khawar Shah, the body has invested Rs10 million to groom talent for international events.

Shah said that the PFB was self-financed and for the last two days, the coaches, including Mussadiq Hanif, Basit Murtaza, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Saleem Haider had introduced players to the pitching machine and speed machine. These were two new tools that would help improve the players’ skills.

“We are committed to the sport and we have put in Rs10 million for the training of these players,” Shah told The Express Tribune. “We shortlisted players after the National Championship which concluded last month, while we also trained 21 pitchers separately.

“We’ll carry on with the camp till next year, and hopefully our efforts will produce good results in international tournaments.”
