India is even worse, I think, supposedly, thereof and moreover, or something, which makes this all ok etc.
@Sodomite: Man is not lacking any genes. Some sperms carry Y Chromosome and others carry X Chromosome. Millions of sperms are released in one ejaculation. If sperm carrying Y Chromosome wins the race and enters the egg, a boy is born.
@Incredulous: " It’s technically the Y gene that he lacks… The Y gene is also sometimes referred to as the absence of the X chromosome whixh helps produce a boy. Regardless however, the ‘fault’ is there is any, lies with the man not the woman."
Men have X and Y chromosomes. Only X or Y sperm can be there in a sperm. If sperm contains Y Chromosome, union of ovum and sperm results in a boy. If sperm contains X Chromosome result is a girl. An ovum (egg) always contains X Chromosome.
Welcome to the land of the jahiliya.
The desire for boys is cultural rooted in desire to continue the bloodline and also for inheritance purposes. Among the poor in society, having a boy essentially means a retirement and pension plan. Hence the social stigma attached with having girls and making the women feel guilty over it.
Why is it that maulvis pontificating about global jihad and the threat to Islam from their pulpits never take up these social issues ? The main issues we have are : violence against women (includes subject of this article, karo kari, rape, murder, acid throwing etc.). These issues hurt Islam more than any other.
The man should be castrated.
In fact that man is the most kind one I've come across in this kind of situation. Most of the others men killed the wife/baby/both etc. I appreciate what this man did, he doesn't want her, so just divorced her and told her to bring the baby along. Yes people of Pakistan, get civilized pls.
Thank the lord for small mercies. I am glad that he divorced her rather than forcing her to kill that third girl.
Correction: A child's sex is determined by the male gamete. Gender is an individual's socially constructed identity.
A child's gender is determined by the male gamete! The husband should be blaming himself!
Typical example of a love marriage!
@Sodomite: It's technically the Y gene that he lacks... The Y gene is also sometimes referred to as the absence of the X chromosome whixh helps produce a boy. Regardless however, the 'fault' is there is any, lies with the man not the woman. After God, it is only the man who could produce a boy or a girl.
The man may need to be sent to an education camp. Medically the problem lies with him and not his wife. Rightfully, she should divorce him for lacking X gene. But in the Land of the Pure all is humbug.
Pray to Allah to help her and her children and guide her husband for his wrongdoings!
