QUETTA:

Nine political parties of Balochistan on Thursday announced they would take part in the local government elections scheduled on December 7, 2013.

The leaders of Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), Hazara Democratic Party (HDP), Balochistan National Party – Mengal (BNP-M), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) made this announcement during a news conference at Quetta Press Club on Thursday.

They told the media that two counseling meetings of nine political parties had been held in Quetta to review all the aspects of the upcoming LG elections. They said they had reservations on holding elections in such short time as the law and order situation in the province was terrible.

But despite these reservations, the parties had decided to go for elections, they added.  The nine parties demanded that the Election Commission Balochistan take notice of the demarcation and remove the flaws in electoral lists.
