The capital’s police appreciated the service of a dozen of its own officers on Wednesday.
As a measure to encourage efficient policing, Inspector General of Police Sikandar Hayat presented cash prizes and commendation certificates to 12 cops as acknowledgment of their performance during October.
The awards were presented to Assistant Superintendent Police City Yasir Afridi, Inspector Amanullah and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Fareed Khan both of the Special Branch, Logistics Division’s Sub-Inspector Shafique Ahmed and Sub-Inspector Muhammad Akmal from the Anti-Terrorism Squad. Moreover, ASI Khalid Niazi of Operations Division, Security Division’s Constable Jameel Ahmed, Inspector Ghulam Murtaza and Lady Constable Sameena Khalid both of the Traffic Division, Head Constable Muhammad Akhtar, ASI Muhammad Akram Ranjha and Constable Hammad Khan were awarded cash prizes and certificates.
Hayat said the police accountability system will be made more effective to monitor performance of police officials and four best performing police officials from each division of the Islamabad Police would be selected each month. They will not only be awarded prizes but also given welfare benefits.
He said the police officers involved in corruption or inefficient policing will have to face disciplinary action.
