LAHORE:

A delegation of students from several universities in Balochistan visited the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) on Wednesday for a discussion on the problems faced by them.

The students also met with representatives of the Law and Politics Society and the LUMS Entrepreneurial Society.

They discussed various issues, including the missing persons, lack of quality education and opportunities, the earthquake in Awaran and the long-term effects of the nuclear test conducted in Chagai in 1998.

The visit was organised by the Office of Student Affairs. UMS faculty as well as staff and students from humanities and social Sciences met the delegation.

Journalist Imtiaz Gul attended the session as a representative of the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS).

The visit was part of a series of seminars under the CRSS de-radicalisation programme to reach out to young people in Balochistan.

CRSS in a statement said the session was an attempt to bring students from Balochistan to a platform with students from other parts of the country to discuss the issues faced by them and to raise awareness.

The Law and Politics Society at LUMS is a student organisation aimed at encouraging active participation of students in the exchange of ideas with regards to political and legal issues of international and national importance.

The LUMS Entrepreneurial Society is a student-run society dedicated to promotion of entrepreneurship and leadership in LUMS.
