An agreement has been signed between Riphah International University (RIU) and a Singaporean architectural company for designing the varsity’s new campus in Islamabad. The agreement was signed by RIU Pro-Chancellor Muhammad Hasan Khan and CPG Chief Medical Planning Martan L de Castro. Senior officials of the university were also present on the occasion. The new campus will be built on 1.2 million square feet to accommodate around 10,000 students. It will include a 600-bed hospital, a medical college, a dental college and about 70 departments of seven faculties. A university official said it will be a full-fledged state-of-the-art ‘education city’ with a gymnasium, sports grounds, swimming pool and a community development centre. The master plan has been designed by a consortium of four Pakistani and foreign companies. The construction will start in April next year and is likely to be completed within two years, stated a press release.
