Petty crime: 123 prisoners released on probation

Another 64, including three women, were released on court orders.

SARGODHA: As many as 123 prisoners were released on probation from Sargodha Jail in October, probation officer Muhammad Adeel Ashraf told The Express Tribune on Wednesday. He said 59 prisoners had completed their probation period and had been released in October. Another 64, including three women, were released on court orders. Ashraf said there were 533 prisoners in the jail, including a child and eight women. He said the number of prisoners at Sargodha Jail had been decreasing, because of better performance of the Probation Department. He said it was helping the jail authorities save millions of rupees from their monthly expenditures. He said all these criminals had been arrested for petty crimes.
