Since the release of Waar, there has been much talk of box office collection. Having bagged a record first day opening, followed by a record-breaking Eid collection and then the biggest first week opening for any film in Pakistan, the Shaan-starrer went on to beat Chennai Express’ records and caused Boss to flop at the local box office. Compared with Choorian, however, Waar is still behind in the box office race.
Syed Noor’s 1998 film Choorian gathered a grand total of Rs200 million and that, too, merely on 20 to 22 screens, whereas Waar was released on 52 screens. Choorian was a well-executed family drama bolstered by excessive marketing done by Shalimar Television Network. The result was a box office sensation.
With the onset of Muharram and Krrish 3 as competition, it is still uncertain whether Waar will become Pakistan’s all-time highest-grossing film by surpassing the Rs200 million mark. However, back-to-back houseful shows on weekdays suggest that there is hope for the Shaan-starrer to surpass Chooriyan.

Waar is the best,
Waar is 2b c0mpared wid hollyW0OD n0t bollyW0Od,
I went to watch with my wife and we couldn't get seats. And the guy told me that the hiuse will remain full this week. Book next week.
Good or not, every Pakistani should watch the movie just to support local film industry.
Maula Jatt is the top grosser of all times in Pakistan todate. It ran continuously for more than two years in Lahore alone. Any difference can be due to value of currency way back during the lkate 1970s. As for the intellectual content, our public has the same standard that it always had.
@Javed, that was a nice shot, straight at the indi's throat.
krrish 3, a loser movie for loser indians...................... @rahul, I think Indian should have Bangladeshi singers, who sing better.
Go ahead they will suck more blood from your economy and let your indi singers sit at the doorsteps...................haha!
What indians are doing here..?...Krrish 3 is copy of batman..they even copied the cat woman character...
@Rahul: our population rejected them them, thats why we sent left over across the border...because we know when anu malik can be a star there, ali zafar will become a legend in India
@Khurram Pt Ravi shankar got Life time achievement @ grammy's, if you have general knowledge. I was taking about that. @Ghostrider Lol !! Please ask them to sing too ur population. I think Indian should have Bangladeshi singers, who sing better.
@Robin Ghosh: yes there is and it is much more diversified than yours....our sense of music is more mature than item numbers..take for example coke studio Pakistani version only (this is just one example). @rahul I dont wan to name the big ones that Pakistan has produced in music industry but just for the record...rock icons like pearl jam considered it an honor to work with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan...so take a hike now and listen to honey singh
Choorian was made in 5 crore and made 20 crore. Waar was made in 20 cr and made 17 cr so far. It may touch 20 cr by the end of this year.
I dont see how Waar can be compared with Choorian. And if you adjust inflation then Waar will have to make over 25 cr to challenge Choorian in terms of earning if you even leave expenses aside.
I think Waar is all time hit movie, comparison between two movies should be according days earning not years gross earning.
@rahul: life time achievement awards...lolx...we in pak has many artists who got LTA award from governemnt and so must be india..its not a big deal...regarding Oscar or Grammy...i know u gonna name AR Rehman for slumdog millionare but mind u that wasn't an indian movie...that was a hollywood stuff
@GhostRider ... Can you please name a few recognition that "Your classy talent" has acquired in music like Grammy's or Oscars or any global recognition?? I can name many Indians who have not only won in oscar or grammy , but also got Life time achievement awards.. Please put some facts..
@Robin Ghosh: You Indians have enough toilets? That's a news to me!
@GhostRider: You have a music industry? That is a news to me
@rahul: none of our classy talent look towards India...come to Pakistan and judge the places of people mentioned in our industry...on the other hand bollywood remains admant on copying our music and begging our singers to sing
Rafay Ji: Waar nay aap ka kya bigara hay jo aap hath dho kar is kay peechay par gaey hain. Peechay hi parna hay to aur bhi ghum hain zamanay may mauhabbat kay siwa, such as Indian army violations in kashmir, indian army violations on LOC, India biggest spender on defence in the last few years, Modi/BJP rising, Naxalite movement in indian states, 75% of indian living on less $2 a day, widows left to die & fend for themselves in the city of Vrindavan, according to the ex-army indian cheif india being involved in covert ops in pakistan etc etc... so some food for thought and possible topics for your next works of genius...
@Spock: I watched Waar five times. The cinematic experience and knowing it is a pakistani film made me go. Yes storyline is slightly weak and there are a few ifs here and there but overall it was a good effort and I applauded that and wanted to do whatever I could to help pakistani cinema.
@GhostRidder .. Thank you please don't watch our movies, also please ask veena, zaffar not to beg and come to our country. Ask them to work in your cutting edge movies
@Our game our rules! .... Your saying WAAR Close to reality ?? Please have some shame. If you want to say that all that bad happens (Really does anything good happens in pak) in your country happens coz of India, then Its great going. I salute your IQ.
Did you even check the Cinemas like Atrium, Neueplex, Cinepax before writing this report? They are going houseful for each show of WAAR and still many people want to watch it but are unable to get tickets for it.
Waar is a propaganda movie. made to fool pakistanis. only in pakistan suh movie can be successful.... LOL
Choorian opened in 22 screens across Pakistan and earned a total of ₨200 million in it's one year run.
Poor story.
@rahul: no sir its not propaganda but a 3rd rate rip off of X-men series and we in Pakistan have better taste
ET - Why are you against about anything good in Pakistan? Waar is doing great and ET is only writing negative stuff about the movie
after all, Waar is based on conspiracy theories!
This writer is a one trick pony and all he does is represent the negative in any media event in Pakistan. Its getting old. Please bring some accomplished and credible reporters to review movies and theater, not this debbie downer.
@rahul: Look whos talking. Have some shame mate, or should I remind you the names of those pathetic propaganda bollywood movies? Atleast this movie WAAR is close to reality and pretty logical, unlike your bollywood movies picturing what an Indian can only dream.
Krrish 3 is must be another blockbuster pathetic indian movie
Is the 200 million adjusted for inflation?
