Dashed dreams: 290 Illegal immigrants to Iran nabbed

KARACHI: Pakistan Coast Guard (PCG) claim to have apprehended 290 persons trying to illegally slip across the Pakistani borders using different land and sea routes.

According to PCG spokesperson, the persons were arrested from Nalient area near Gwadar and Winder in Lasbela district.

He said the detained persons include 266 Afghan nationals and others were from different parts of Pakistan. Spokesperson further said these individuals were handed over to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for further legal disposal.

Separately, as many as 35 alleged criminals were apprehended during targeted raids conducted by Rangers in various parts of the metropolis including Chanesar Goth, P&T Colony, Sharifabad, Mehran Town, Jubilee Market, Malik Chowk in Orangi, Landhi, PIB Colony, Bajauri Para in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Jamali Goth, Chand Bibi Road, Green Town, Model Colony and Saifi Lane in Lyari.



According to the Rangers spokesperson, around 35 hardened criminals along with weapons were apprehended during targeted raids.

Meanwhile, four alleged drug peddlers were arrested during a joint operation conducted by Rangers and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in Khamiso Goth area of New Karachi. According to ANF officials, narcotics including heroin and hashish worth millions of rupees were recovered.
