Newcomers PTV stun star-studded PQA
Newly promoted PTV registered one of the biggest victories in their domestic cricket history as they defeated star-studded PQA by four wickets.
PTV resumed the day on 16 for no loss and received some body blows from PQA’s bowling attack, which consisted of fast-bowlers Mohammad Sami, Mohammad Talha and Sohail Khan. However, PTV’s batting stood strong as they triumphed after scoring 181 for six.
Skipper Naeem Anjum led from the front, making an unbeaten 49. Talha picked up three wickets while Sami bagged two.
Meanwhile, the SBP-KRL and PIA-HBL matches ended in draws.
Water being brought in buckets for players
During the match between PQA and PTV, water was brought for the players in a bucket and poured into the cooler at the Pakistan Cricket Board headquarters.
All around the world, cricket has been mordernised and automatic water trolley cars are being used for drinks, whereas manual drink trolleys continue to be used in Pakistan. In addition, the water in the buckets could affect players’ health due to hygiene issues.
“The water is brought in buckets because the filter is far away and coolers can’t be carried,” a PCB official told The Express Tribune when contacted over the issue.
“We know that the equipment should be upgraded but it’s up to those higher up the ladder to take responsibility for this.”
