MANSEHRA: A young woman was allegedly shot dead in a remote village of Battagram, police said on Wednesday.

Battagram police said locals spotted her bullet-riddled body at a roadside near village Bilyani Neeli Shink. According to Station House Officer (SHO) Riaz Khan, the body was later moved to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Battagram where the woman was identified as Nargas, 20, wife of Faiz.

Family members of the deceased said Nargas went missing four days ago and her body was found on Monday evening. The SHO said the victim’s family did not suspect anyone for the murder.

However, some villagers, under conditions of anonymity, said Nargas was facing a troubled marriage and her murder could have been an act of honour killing.

On September 16, relatives shot dead three women in Jawaki village, Darra Adam Khel, FR Kohat after one of them left her husband.
