Last rites: Fertiliser company’s union leader dies

Ameen Soomro died of a heart attack in Islamabad.

SUKKUR: The former president of the labour union of Fauji Fertiliser Company, Ameen Soomro, was laid to rest in Dino Mako village in Mirpur Mathelo, Ghotki, on Tuesday evening. Soomro died of a heart attack in Islamabad on Monday night. Soomro was fighting for workers rights since the company’s privatisation in 2002.

Last week he had gone to Islamabad to take up the case of retired workers with the relevant authorities, where he suffered from a heart stroke and died in the hospital. His body was brought to his native village Dino Mako, where he was laid to rest.
