TDCP hopes event will boost tourism and economy in Jhelum.

The Tourism Development Corporation of the Punjab (TDCP) is organising a motorbike and car rally near Rohtas Fort in Jhelum district on November 2 and November 3, The Express Tribune has learnt.


TDCP Manager Tahir Mehmood Rana said, “This event is open to drivers, navigators and tourists from all over the country. We hope it will also boost the local economy.”

Minister for Tourism Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan will be the chief guest at the event.

TDCP Managing Director Habibur Rehman Gilani said the corporation had planned a number of events to promote tourism in the province.

He said the province was home to archaeological sites which should be preserved and promoted. He said the province was rich in culture, historical sites picturesque landscapes and mouth-watering food.

He said the tourism corporation had earlier organised events like Cholistan jeep rally, water sports competitions, camping tours and talent shows.

Gilani said, “The purpose of arranging this rally is to promote adventure tourism and adventure sports in the province. We also aim to promote cultural heritage. When participants reach Rohtas, we will give them a tour of the historical Rohtas Fort.”

It is a good news.But roads to Rohtas Fort and the fort itself are in dire need of repair. Also Tilla Jogian near by is a beautiful spot for tourism.
