Antiquated System: ‘Feudals make land reforms hard’

KARACHI: Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (Piler) executive director Karamat Ali said that a majority of National and provincial assembly members have feudal backgrounds, which makes it impossible to introduce land reforms in the country. Speaking at a press conference at Karachi Press Club on Thursday, Ali asked the Supreme Court to declare the allotment of agriculture land during the British rule as ‘illegal’. He explained that the United Nations has already declared all decisions made under colonial rules as invalid. Hence these lands should be taken back by the government and given to the peasants that cultivate them.
