PIA crush hapless KRL in football league

Nine-time national champions PIA climb to third in Pakistan Premier League after crushing KRL 3-1.

KARACHI: Nine-time national champions Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) climbed to third in the Pakistan Premier League after they crushed Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) 3-1.

PIA scored the opening goal through captain Nasurullah in the 18th minute. However, the second half saw the defending champions equalise in the 59th minute but that remained the only good news for KRL. Six minutes later, Zeeshan Ali put PIA ahead again before Shakir Lashari sealed the 3-1 win by scoring in the 77th minute.

KRL slipped to seventh as Wapda and Afghan FC top the tournament with 25 and 20 points respectively.

In other matches, Pel registered a 2-0 win against Young Blood Baloch Football Club and PMC Athletico Club outplayed Sui Southern Gas Corporation 2-1. Karachi Electricity Supply Corporation beat Pakistan Navy 2-1.
