Narcotics control: Russian official meets the president

ISLAMABAD: Viktor P Ivanov, Director Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation on Thursday called on President Mamnoon Hussain. Bilateral relations between Pakistan and Russia with particular focus on drug and narcotics control came under discussion during the meeting. Discussing bilateral ties, the president said diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Russia have seen encouraging growth in the past few years due to bilateral contacts at various levels between the two countries. The president said Pakistan considers Russia as a factor for stability and peace in the region and the world, adding that close ties and cooperation between the two countries would help strengthen regional and world peace and security. The Russian official appreciated Pakistan’s role in supporting regional initiatives to combat drug trafficking.
