Day one: New DCO tours city

LAHORE: Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi, the new district coordination officer (DCO), visited Circular Road, Shadman, Ferozepur Road, Gulberg, The Mall and Jail Road on Thursday morning to inspect cleanliness arrangements.  Dr Qazi also paid a surprise visit to the Badami Bagh General Bus Stand and ordered the administration to make sure that the public toilets there are cleaned regularly and the roads at the bus station are repaired. The DCO visited the Fruit and Vegetable Market and checked the duty roster to see how many staff members were absent. He told the officials concerned to look into the traffic problems at the market. The DCO also inspected branches of the city government’s Revenue Department, met with workers and inquired about their performance. Dr Qazi was appointed DCO on Wednesday in place of Naseem Sadiq, who had only been in the job for four-and-a-half months.
