Workers’ safety: Family protest worker’s death

The protesting relatives said Fesco authorities had not provided safety equipment to linesmen.

FAISALABAD: Relatives of a Faisalabad Electric Supply Company assistant linesman staged a protest on Thursday following his death after he received an electric shock on duty. Chak Jhumra police said Ikramullah was working on an electricity connection to a factory in M-3 Industrial Estate when he received a shock from an 11-KV lines. The protesting relatives said Fesco authorities had not provided safety equipment to linesmen. Fesco spokesman Tahir Sheikh said that the deceased had not been working on live wires. He said the company could not be held responsible for an accident.
