Appointment of NAB chairman

LAHORE: The appointment of Deedar Shah as head of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is as controversial an appointment as was the appointment of Saifur Rehman by Nawaz Sharif, or similar appointments to the NAB made by Musharraf. It seems that in spite of the severe damage done to our exchequer by corruption, pilferages and kickbacks, the government has no intention to put in place a credible NAB which can hold these robber barons accountable and serve as deterrence for others.

Our major political parties do not seem to have learnt any lessons from the past. There are a lot of choices that could be made, if the intentions are honest, to eradicate and reduce the rampant corruption prevalent in our society. This country still has men like Justice Nasir Aslam Zahid, Justice Raza and a few others who can be given the task to head the NAB.

It is for the people to stand up and be heard, before Pakistan is vacuum cleaned of all its resources by this nexus of the corrupt.
