Cutting supply: Rations to IDPs suspended
Over 10,000 IDPs used to get rations from the government and other non-governmental organisations.
PESHAWAR:
Supply of rations to internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Para-Chamkani, Kurram Agency has been suspended for the last one month, FATA Student Federation President Shaukat Aziz said on Wednesday. Addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club, Aziz said there are over 10,000 IDPs present at the Para-Chamkani camp, adding they used to get rations from the government and other non-governmental organisations, but their supply has been shut for the past one month due to unspecified reasons. He said the IDPs were also promised that if they wanted to return to their own areas, they would be provided financial support of Rs25,000 per family along with supply of rations for six months. However, no such assistance has been given, he said. Aziz maintained support should be provided immediately to help IDPs re-construct their homes, which were destroyed in the war on terror.
