Eid duties: 85 policemen suspended over absence

As many as 4,500 policemen and police volunteers had been deployed around the city under the Eid security plan.

GUJRANWALA: As many as 85 policemen in the city have been suspended from service over negligence during Eid holidays. The suspension orders came from City Police Officer Raja Riffat on Saturday. In a statement issued by the CPO, he said that he had personally visited mosques, Eid gahs and other places and found four sub-inspectors, four assistant sub inspectors, 65 constables and 12 head constables missing from duty. The CPO has also issued show cause notices to the policemen. As many as 4,500 policemen and police volunteers had been deployed around the city under the Eid security plan.
