‘Eid Gifts’: PA delegation distributes relief items

Ahmed briefed the delegation about the damage caused by the earthquake and relief activities for the victims.

LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Sher Ali Gorchani said on Friday the government would send 25,000 Eid gifts at a cost of Rs40million to Balochistan’s earthquake victims.

He was handing over the Eid gifts to Balochistan’s bureaucracy at Awaran helipad. He was leading a Punjab Assembly delegation visiting Awaran district on Eid. He said 12,000 Eid gifts and 500 sweet boxes had been distributed through trucks and helicopter sorties on the first day of Eid. He said the rest of the gifts would be distributed by the province’s civil officers. He said Pakistan Army officials would also oversee the distribution of the gifts. MPA Waheed Gul, Political Secretary to Balochistan Chief Minister Sardar Khair Muhammad Jamali, Brigadier Commander Ibrar Ahmed, Turbat Commissioner Muhammad Akbar, the Awaran deputy commissioner and Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director Muhammad Nisar were also present. Ahmed briefed the delegation about the damage caused by the earthquake and relief activities for the victims. The deputy speaker said relief goods would be sent from the Punjab. He said the chief minister had set up a cell at Rahim Yar Khan to monitor relief activities.
