With Rs11,397,930 in ticket sales, Waar broke the previous record set by the Shahrukh Khan-starrer Chennai Express, which had mustered around Rs9 million on the first day of exhibition earlier in the year.
Figures from all the 42 screens on which the Shaan-starrer Waar opened have not yet come in and the overall tally for the action film is expected to rise further. The film cost $2.5 million to make and is expected to be distributed in 25 countries.
Waar, which has seen most cinemas booked out for the entirety of its opening week, is expected to rake in Rs55 million in its first week on current trends. If it manages to do that, it will beat Chennai Express' all time high first week take by a few millions. It will also make it the highest grossing domestic film of the year, out-earning the other blockbuster, Mein Hoon Shahid Afridi, which earned Rs55.4 million.
Waar's first week on the box office has been helped by the unusually long Eid holidays and a weekend immediately afterwards.

if the film has earned 1.1 cr pak rupees on opening day then it has to collect the same amount for another 200 days to be profitable considering the budget of the movie which is 200 million pak rupees.. as predicted earlier the film will be a disaster at box office , none the less a good effort to bring audience back to theatres in pak..
Its a Pakistani movie and its good, we must appreciate it.BE PAKISTANI..at-least good things are coming up. People who are calling it a propaganda, shut up, go and watch sick Indian movies..all of them are copy of English movies to gain popularity.
and for the @IndianDude, open your eyes, they are talking in two different currencies. $ and PKR. Dont you know the difference....
WE ARE BEST ALWYAS WE ARE DGRADED BUT I THINK IF MOVIE RELEASES WITH THE HELP OF CHANNELS BY ADVERTISING THEN IT MIGHY BEAT ALL RECORDS OF THE WORLD BECAUSE ITS AND INTERNATIONAL STANDARD MOVIE .TRAILER IS AWSOME
@saad: Yes U r the odd one. Not only in here but in the world in general. Go sit under a tree in a far off place and stop trolling around.
@IndianDude: $2.5 million is 250 million ruppees. How is 11 million 450% of it??? Obviously u have been taught maths in an indian school!
@IndianDude:
Get a life dude.. and get your mathematics in order. $2.5 million translates into 250 million Pak rupees hence the movie is expected to recover less than 50%.
JHOOTI NEWS , It release in only 15 cinemas in Pakistan , how it can get this money . They are coping Indian film trad websites. kawwa chala hanse ki chal
It is great that a pakistani movie can make 1crore gross first day. But all people comparing the economics to bollywood are deluded or just plain ignorant. There is simply no comparison.
Waar first day = 1 crore rupees gross Chennai express 1st day = 70 crore rupees gross (indian market)
If we add the worldwide market to chennai express we are looking at a figure of 150crores gross first day.
This puts the 1crore collection of waar into perspective..
why are u fighting..we should not follow the india nd we should progress to raise the film industry of pakistan nd try to reduce the watching movies of india in Pakistani cinemas so that they get lost from Pakistan. best of luck Pakistan.
in a country where film production is being 'revived' (a buzz word for many morons after watching a movie for free at a premiere) for the past decade when a film like khuda ke liay or waar comes it's like the circus has come to town!! well kkl was exceptional but the way the public and media gets excited as if celluloid has been discovered! in case of waar its for adults, so restricted attendance around the ring! i feel the same for movies like chennai express or any khan film. many forget that those clowns are seen throughout the year in tv commercials and programs (and doing mujras at high profile weddings ) and earn more than once a year movie, but the public take their films as if life would be incomplete if they are not watched! like chennai express etc waar is is in a category where no matter how much it is sensibly criticized many will be curious as to why is it being termed average or bad? so, they will flock to see it and thus more earnings and a hit! let's take it easy.

@IndianDude:
Are you not mixing dollars with rupees.
Waar !! it's worth watching, i request all the readers to watch the movie to assess what our film makers worth and the acting potential of our actors.... thumbs up guys for your contribution towards the industry.....
@razi: i did what you suggested I.e. compared the population ratio and collection ratio. Indian population is 6 times that of Pakistan. top Indian movie collected 33crore Indian rupees on first day I.e.53 crore Pakistani rupees. That compares with 1.14 crore Pakistani rupees. So about 49 times. Clearly therefore population does not account for the difference.
@bollywood fan and guys why are we fighting, whether its chennai express or waar what should we do? Producers are earning money, hero and heroins are getting fame and money...we should appreciate both of them ..we are audience we just should appreciate and thats it..
Can anyone let me know if it will be on cinema in Dubai? I m listening alot about this film, i m really eager to watch it...
@ayesha: thats the spirit. Lets hold tight till next eid for the next movie. Lets wipe bollywood off from map of the world.
u people shud know dat chennai express earned 4000 million Rs till now...now go n get sum sleep...competition!! no way...
@ din: why shuld we watch ur madras cafe kind of movies? Hollywood movies and some of the paki movies like seedlings and waar are far better than urs, @priyanka: u will always see few sensible ppl in a crowd and thts what Paki movies are , the sensible one in between crap indina movies... N if its abt the collection madam plz have u ever tried to compare ur bollywood earnings with that Hollywood?
@Priyank: Pakistan has MUCH fewer theaters than India has, and we have a MUCH smaller population compared to India, and our film industry isn't that well known, so most of us are waiting for the DVD version of this movie to come out, but based on what I've heard from my friends and based on what I've seen in the trailer, WAAR is probably the best movie out of Pakistan right now and it's much better than any Bollywood movie, but if you only like masala movies then this movie isn't for you.
@IndianDude: its 2.5 million dollars !! do some math before you jump in trying to be a genius.. Your views reek of the absurd anti-pakistan stance that fills up the indian politics and media so highly that they make it the basis of their election campaign, now if you are too naive to grasp the facts of the anti terrorism war in pakistan and want to believe every piece of crap your media and higher authorities throw at you, atleast don't embarrass your self here !
So the scene should be , Indian agents going after terrorists in Pakistan? Or Pakistani agents going after Raw ? :) You poor Indian....
our national currency rate is in PKR so thats why choose Pakistani currency rate. That is Great achvment of Lollywood. Mr. Shaan Proves that we have talent to growth Pakistani cinema
who said it was sponcered by ISPR? It wasn't. And even if it was, so what? Nadeem F Paracha think that opposing whats popular makes them different. Waar is big hit. A must watch, go watch it in cinemas!
just read carefully... 2.5million dollar and 11.4 million rupees.... @IndianDude:
@indian dude .hope u understand difference b/w Rs and dollars!! and to other indian fellows if u dnt evn knw about pak movie thn why r u here on this forum
Cant wait to watch
@Din: It had earned that figure but after tax was taken away it was only 90 lakhs.
@Ali asif: The article tells about the chennai express business in pakistan not india :)
I think this movie will do to Pakistani film industry what Dil Dil Pakistan did to the POP industry in Pakistan. Good job.
To my Indian friends: please continue to watch your bollywood movies, stand in front of a mirror and beat your own chest about it. Leave us alone.
Thank you.
@din the difference id because of gross and net collection...... first you read about gross collection of CE now you read the net collection.... so dont get that wrong..... just read news with a bit of concentration........... @priyank my advice for you is that just compare your huge population with pakistan population...... than compare pakistani film collection with yours.........
I think so u havin't read carefully its says movie has been made $ 2.5 Million and it first day gross is Rs 11.4 Million which is around only 4.3% of the production cost@IndianDude:
considering the budget of the movie, will it be able to recover its cost?? not even super hit bollywood films have barely crossed 100 million Pak rupees in pakistan considering their mass appeal.. if this film recovers 200 million Pak rupees it wil be the biggest blockbuster the country has ever seen.. gud luck for that
The 2nd day collections are even better. Gross collections 2.23 crore rupees and net 1.51 crore rupees. Overall for the first two days gross collections have crossed the 4 crore rupee mark. Great going. Friday and the weekend still to come. Should inshallah have a figure of around 8 crore rupees gross after Sunday as things stand. Hats to everyone who has gone and seen Waar and supported Pakistani cinema.
How can any one say that the movie is super hit even on first day ? Since the collection was good only because of long holidays. There is no entertainment apart from bollywood movies and very few lollywood movies which comes like once in a year, that's sound good, but does not mean that it revived whole pakistan film industry !
All the persons crying Indian rupees and currency conversion are like cry babies. Dudes these figures mentioned are of DOMESTIC BUSINESS (IN PAKISTAN) and all the figures are in PAKISTANI CURRENCY (PKR)
A positive bit of news for our film industry. There's still a long way to go before we turn it into a real industry with enough movies being produced and jobs being generated. In the meantime it is very helpful to have the bollywood movies which ensures our cinemas stay profitable and allow a cinema culture to develop in Pakistan.
@IndianDude: Bro making of the movie says dollar 2.5 million and earning on first day is in rs. Go back to your 8th grade's statistics classes please.
@IndianDude: dude 2.5 million $ means 25 lacs $ 25 lacs $ equals to more than 25 crores in pkistan budget of the movie is 25 crores andit earned 1.14 crore firs tday 4% of total
11.4 million, thats around INR 60 Lakh. Less than a crore. Guys, average Indian movies are grossing INR 20 Crore in its first day. Thats over 30 times. Pakistan movie industry is worse than i thought, this is your record performance??
In earlier post, one of the newspaper had reported that Chennai Exprees has made a collection of 1.70 Crore in Pakistan on very first day..Now ET is saying it is 90 lacs.. It the true fact that in Pakistan there is no mechnism to know the exact figure of collections..So, these are the estimated figures hence we should not assume these as true picture..
@Gandhi-jee-ki-dhoti: Have you not seen Indian hit "Madras Cafe"...
Nice movie watched last night it would help the revival of Sick Film industry
Indian action movies look comedy in front of waar.
The marvelous movie "WAAR" beat the domstic record i sound very well, because till last year our society was only discussing abut indian movies but this year trends has been changed after releasing Execllent Pakistani movies in a row and now our society start talking about Pakistani movies, their business an about performances. The film "WAAR" will be the super hit film of Pakistan and credit ges to Bilal Lashkari.
The peoples like Shoaib Mansoor and Bilal Lashkari are icons for our cinema industry and we are expecting more movies from them. Also feel very well after watching our own culture in movies.
Also we need Pakistani movies in continous way and there should'nt be long gap between movies. Because this is right time to get business and promote our own skills set and culture.
Pakistan Zindabad
@IndianDude: Don't you know the difference between $ and PKR?It costed 2.5 million $ and did a buisness of 11.4 million PKR.Really your mathematics teacher needs to work hard on you."450%".Are you mad?
ali asif chennai express first day collection was 9 Million in pakistan and pakistani currency while waar is 11.4 million in pak currency if you convert 9 million PKR to indian currency then convert the 11.4 million into indian currency too where ever you convert the amount will be the same lol
@IndianDude: dude, that meanas the movie is made for 2.5 million dollars, and it earned 11.5 million RS. go bang your head with a wall..what u been eating lately
@IndianDude: :man read it cost is in dollars and income is in rupees ...read it again
every movie lover should watch this movie.........Best Story,Acting,Screenplay and Song....
Waar movie has earned due to whole nation's patriotic approach to support the pakistan film industry..Whereas in Bollywood, we do not need such pathetic support just for a fiction movie.. Secondly, Indian movies rule over the world by doing business in crores..So, pakistan is our alternate territory to earn some business.. So if once in a blue there is some resistance by any pakistani movie in their own country, then that is not a big deal as we Indian are always in "Win-Win situation" by capturing the whole pakistan...
@IndianDude: Come on man Read it Again. The Budget of the movie is given in Dollars (See the $ sign). The earning is given in Rs (See the Rs). Or may be you cannot see because of the hatred in your eyes. Go get a life man.
A complete master piece, standards of Hollywood ! Bollywood prepare to wrap up.Superb work done Team Pakistan.
@Ali asif: We're not talking about how much it earns in India, it is saying how much chennai earnt in Pakistan and how waar broke the record and is the highest yet lol
Just watched it..Great action pack Movie ! A Must watch :)
Aftab:
hi indian dude the cost of the movies is 2.5Million Dollar which is equal to 27 billion pakistani rupees. it collect more than 1 billion rupees on its first day. so you need to read it properly. thanks
details of all the number game is Waar cost around 2million dollar that is equivilant to 20 cr PKR Waar did around 1.14 cr PKR net on its 1st day
Chennai numbers are 9 million for Pkr Collections in Pakistan While in india chennai made 33cr INR .. that has nting to do with Pak boxoffice So Waar made a record beating Chennai Express
Wow, the Indian education system is clearly very terrible. @IndianDude How can you calculate percentage increase with two different base currencies? @ Ali Asif, read the article, It is talking about the Box office receipts for both movies in Pakistan.
@ IndianDude Theres a diffrence in $ and Pakistani Rs so no it did not make 450% its production cost.
So far the best Pakistani movie i have ever seen. Doesnt look like a PK movie, surely Hollywood standard.
Movie is great saw it today ! @ali asif we r talkin abt domestic recored the collection on firstday in pakistan it doesnt get affected with currency of india 9 million pakistani rupees were collected by chennai on first day of its release in pakistan while 11.4 million pakistani rupees on first day by waar (Y)
@IndianDude: Making cost is 2.5 million dollar while first day earning is 11.4 million rupees. Please read carefully before posting any comment !!!
Superb movie. It's an excellent work by the whole WAAR team.Kudos!
I may be the odd one out here...but I have no remorse in saying that WAAR is a disappointing movie...
@IndianDude; The movie made 11 million 'Pak Rs' on the first day...it cost 2.5 million 'US$' to make..try to learn the difference
looking forward to see movie tomorrow. i think we should encourage such initiatives for revival of cinema in Pakistan. @indiandude. cost of producing movie is mentioned in dollars whereas opening day figure is in pak rupees. so please read carefully before commenting about the article. enhance ur IQ please
@IndianDude: The cost is 2.5 million US dollars!!! And the first day business is 11.4 million Pakistani Rupees i.e ( about 114,000 Dollars!!!)
Must see!! Great movie
chchch Bollywood your time is overrrr! :p Bravo team Waar for bringing such an excellent masterpiece. Hats off!!!
@ Ali Asif. They r talking abt business in Pak cinemas in Pak currency.
@Indian dude, get your maths right dude
Does anyone know when it is coming out internationally?
I hope Waar is a step further in reviving Pakistani film industry... so we can get rid of these stupid Bollywood movies....
Saying again: "Goodbye Bollywood!"
Please convert the currency as well, Indian rupee is about 1.6 PKR, that means 9 million indian rupee is equivalent of 14.4 million PKR. Further i found a contradictory source that says Chennai express first day sales was 33 million INR. Please tell us about the source where did you get the Chennai Express figure.

Does anyone have any idea if it will be released in the US and when?
@Aamir: I just want to any failure of your nation where you don't blame India, we indian don't even know about your movies... Take some good medicine for Depression.
What wonderfully movie, come on Pakistan producers we need movies like this which will leave Bollywood far behind I am so happy that Pak started make in movies again.well done Bilal Pak zidabad
@Aamir and people like you are the reason - what Pakistan today is ....
Wow..... I mean bravo.. Another good news after Pak beat Sa... That's a very good news about a pakistani movie and it sounds great.... Looking forward for DvD release. I was wantting for it for long time..... Best of luck to Lollywood.... Hope for a best future
The Gross figure is around 1.8 crore rupees. The figure would have been higher but the Centaurus Mall in Islamabad which has the Cineplex was closed yesterday due to security reasons. Overall this is great news for Pakistani Cinema. The advance booking for the next few days until Sunday is very positive. The weekly collections should be around 7 crore rupees which will be another record. Waiting anxiously for the overseas release.
Thanks to Indian Social Media (boxofficedetail) for posting collections of Waar and because of them our media has also started posting
wating deeply for Waar movie........
Film "Bol" earned Rs. 22 million during the first 6 days whereas Waar has earned Rs. 11.4 million only on the first day!! It seems that Waar will be a real record breaker.
Extremely good movie !!
Wow.... I mean bravo.... Another good news after pak beat sa. I was waitting for this movie for a long time. Really nice to read these stats. Hoping a very good future of Pak cinema......
The article says: The film cost $2.5 million to make and is expected to be distributed in 25 countries. -Doesn't make sense, unless producers used cell phone camera to shoot the movie. beat the box office record for an opening day take of Rs11.4 million. -Once again, hard to believe. A movie grossing 450% of cost of producing on the first day. The article is a fiction indeed, just like the story line of the movie where pakistani agents go after the terrorists.
This news made my day.I am going out to watch this movie tomorrow.
Can't wait to see this marvelous movie tomorrow !!!
I wonder what will the Indian trolls who were degrading this film will say now. Especially lol, raj, Paki Mujahid , Lalakimaa( Who sometimes pretends to be Pakistani although he sounds like a cross dresser). The Pakistani public should support it's own movies. Since the Indians never lose an opportunity to curse Pakistan there will be now comparison to the money Indian movies earn. Why can't the Indians mind their own business. Congratulations to all people involved in this movie.
waar is a great movie
Interesting read. Just a few days ago, this is what the same "expert" had to say about Waar: http://tribune.com.pk/story/616679/all-that-glitters-3/
I personally feel any good product should get the response it deserves.
This sounds great. Now lets produce some more movies, of all kinds - art movies, commercial movies, song and dance movies but the kind wee can take our families to watch.
