Weekly stats: Police nab 186 suspected criminals

According to the police, the suspects were arrested separately during different raids conducted in the city.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police claimed they arrested 186 people suspected of involvement in various criminal activities from the federal capital last week. According to the police, the suspects were arrested separately during different raids conducted in the city. The authorities recovered four kilograms of hashish, two kilograms of opium, seven cars, five motorcycles, 17 pistols, counterfeit notes worth Rs75,000 and 121 bottles of liquor altogether from the arrested suspects, the police said. The police said they also registered 68 cases during the week. Meanwhile, 19 absconders were also arrested and 15 vehicles impounded for having bogus registration plates, according to the police. Islamabad Inspector General of Police Sikandar Hayat directed the heads of all the police stations to take effective steps to curb crime. He has also ordered a crackdown against proclaimed offenders and court absconders.
