CHARSADDA: Another police official was gunned down in Charsadda by unidentified assailants on Saturday night, making it the third such incident in the district during the past 10 days.

According to Tangi police station official Abdul Rasheed Khan, Head Constable Sher Ali was heading to work on his motorcycle when gunmen opened fire at him in Tangi, killing him on the spot.

Attacks on police officers have increased during the past few weeks in Charsadda. On October 8, a police official was killed and his companion injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire at them in Mandani.

ASI Younas Khan was on his way from Ghunda Khel Zayam with a friend, Muslim, on his motorcycle when assailants on another motorbike intercepted them near Technical College. Younas was killed on the spot, while Muslim was injured and rushed to a nearby hospital.

On October 4, Constable Sajjad Ahmad was gunned down by an unidentified motorcyclist early morning while he was on his way to work. Sajjad was employed as a security officer in the district police office on Mardan Road.

The shootings have raised concerns in the district as the police department has failed to apprehend any target killers so far.
