A proclaimed offender was killed while two of his accomplices managed to escape when the police carried out a raid in Kulachi tehsil on Saturday morning, said a police official.
Kulachi police SHO Muhammad Yousaf and his team raided a house in Gara Guldad where Iftikhar died in the resultant shootout.
Meanwhile, four identified gunmen looted three trucks on DI Khan-Zohb Road near Frontier Region (FR) Darazinda, said a Gomal police official.
The dacoits snatched thousands of rupees in cash, cell phones, wrist watches and other valuables from the drivers and conductors at gunpoint. One of the drivers was also thrashed by the culprits.
After the incident, outraged truck drivers blocked the DI Khan-Zohb Road for all kinds of traffic. Later, the political administration of FR Darazinda intervened and dispersed protesters by assuring them of taking the robbers to task.
