LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge on Friday sought comments from the Sanda SHO by October 23 in a petition, filed by a woman, seeking registration of a case against a man she said had forcibly married her and had forced her to become a prostitute.

Petitioner Sumaira Bibi said that she used to work as a domestic worker. She said that Asad had proposed to her and told her that his parents wanted to meet her. She went to meet his parents on September 12, but he took her to a house where four unidentified men raped her.

Sumaira Bibi said that Asad forced her to sign documents declaring her his wife and kept her captive in the house. She said that she managed to escape a few weeks ago and tried to file a complaint at the Sanda police station.

Sumaira Bibi said that ASI Shakoor threatened her with ‘dire consequences’ if she didn’t return to her husband and refused to register a complaint against Asad.
