Hockey: PIA, Wapda to fight for NBP Gold Cup

PIA and Wapda will lock horns in the final of NBP Gold Cup Hockey Tournament being played at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore today, while Army and Navy will battle each other for the third-place playoff.


In the first semi-final, skipper Waqas Sharif scored a brace to secure Wapda’s 5-3 win over Army. With both teams tied at two goals each after the first half, Sharif, Mohammad Adnan, and Mohsin Bilal helped Wapda net three more to book their place in the final.

Meanwhile, in the other last-four match, PIA roared back from a goal down to win the tie 3-2 against Navy. With Navy leading 2-1 at half-time, crucial strikes from Yasir Islam and Imran Khan sealed the win for PIA.
