Summit Entertainment’s franchise The Twilight Saga is being spoofed yet again. The adult cartoon series “The Simpsons” will feature an apparent parody of Twilight’s lead character Edward Cullen. Joining the project is Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, who will voice the character of ‘Edmund’.

The segment called “Tweenlight” will appear in “Treehouse of Horror XXI”, the annual horror edition of “The Simpsons” which will air in the US on November 7.

“Tweenlight” will reportedly introduce a mysterious Edmund who visits Springfield. Edmund strikes up a friendship with Lisa Simpson, who later discovers he is a vampire. The two run away to Dracula-la Land, leaving Homer to come to his daughter’s rescue.

“Daniel was very excited to do ‘The Simpsons’,” The Mirror reported producer Al Jean saying.

This isn’t the first attempt to mock the teenage vampire series.

An unfinished copy of Vampires Suck, Fox’s highly anticipated parody of Twilight was leaked more than a month before its scheduled date of release in August this year. According to the website Torrent Freak it was downloaded more than 100,000 times within a single month.

In a 2009 episode of the US TV show “Saturday Night Live”, musician Taylor Swift appeared in another spoof titled “Firelight”. Impersonating Twilight character Bella (played by Kristen Stewart), Swift shared the screen space with Frankenstein, who mocked Edward in a tale where mummies replaced werewolves.

In the last three years this is the first time that Radcliffe and Pattinson have been associated with a project after co-starring in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007).

Though compared incessantly by media, the two heartthrobs are all praise for each other.

Pattinson told Showbizspy.com earlier this year, “I love the mix of stuff he (Radcliffe) has done in his career, always pushing the boundaries and stuff like that. I also envy his stints on stage — he is a great actor.”

While Pattinson said he would like to take tips from Radcliffe on dealing with the showbiz career, the latter admires Pattinson’s looks.

“I can safely say that his insisting that girls would choose me over him ... that they would not. That they do not. He is much prettier and can be much more charming. And he can do that thing of being sultry and sexy,” Radcliffe told MTV.
