The name of the witness has not been disclosed due to security reasons.
Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Sindh Police Shahid Hayat had earlier stated, "The suspect is affiliated with MQM’s unit-178 and has been identified as Kazim Abbas Rizvi, son of Syed Muhammad Abbas Rizvi."
An eyewitness had previously identified suspect Kazim Abbas Rizvi, as the killer of a senior lawyer, Naimat Ali Randhawa on October 5.
The witness identified the suspect among the ‘dummies’ during an identification parade conducted by the judicial magistrate Central, Akbar Ali. The eyewitness identified the suspect, as the person who had shot on the car of the lawyer, who had later succumbed to wounds.
The police said that Naimat Ali Randhawa and his son Tauqeer Ali Randhawa were shot in Nazimabad by unidentified assailants while they were going home on September 26. A single bullet took away the life of a lawyer who had previously served as special public prosecutor in the anti-terrorism courts and was the president of the Pakistan Muslim League-N lawyers’ wing.
AIG Hayat had said that the arrested had confessed to murdering Randhawa with assistance from a few other individuals, besides admitting to seven other instances of murder.
Hayat had further explained that initial interrogations yielded the impression that the motive behind the killing was connected with the murder case of Wali Khan Babar, a journalist who worked for the television channel ‘Geo News’ and was gunned down in Liaquatabad, Karachi, on January 2011.
He had ruled out any sectarian dimension to the murder, terming it specifically as “politically motivated targeted killing”.
The AIG had stated that the arrest was made possible through the joint efforts of police and Rangers, and that raids were underway for arrests of four other criminals that the murderer claimed to have been complicit in the crime.
“Kazim Abbas Rizvi has named his partners, and we are conducting raids to find them. I assure you we won’t let them get away,” AIG Hayat had said.

@Son of Mohajir: You (and others who think like that) are crazy ! I think we have seen MQM reaching out to the people of Karachi in recent elections .. and getting a kick in the bum (won only because of TTs of unit incharges - just like the one discussed in the article)
Enough is ENOUGH, it’s time for MQM to reach out to the people of Karachi and there support and come up with a solution to end this for good…. Independence from Sindh Government … Independence from Pakistani Federal (Punjabi) Government…. Either make Karachi a separate Province or Independence from Pakistan all together.
@Khalid: i thought only i noticed this odd behaviour hmm this observation should be promoted
@News: mqm trolls are like apple wierdos preaching crap as gold
...and the kingpin calling from London to condole the death of Randhawa, and calling for the arrest of killers. How ironic and the height of hypocrisy. A whole generation of young Urdu speaking people destroyed, blinded by the hate and prejudice based on ethnicity and language followed this person who is devoid of any vision and and is without any foresight. As the saying goes 'You can make fool of some people sometimes, but you just cannot make fool of all the people all the times'.
I give 48 hours before the pro-MQM staff of ET deletes this article.
TTP & MQM will soon be held accountable for their actions against the state of Pakistan.
The only responsible for Karachi peace situations is mqm.nawaz government should have to take some sort of action against mqm.
MQM trolls . . . .. . ????? sssshhhhhhh
Apparently 'Na Maloon Afraad' turning out to be maloom afraads.
I hope this doesn't stop here, the investigation team should now find out why MQM ordered this activist to kill Randhawa, Ultimately finding the killers and the motive of murder of journalist Wali Khan Babar.
Police should also catch the master mind of such killings.
@Liberal: A lot of Bengali mothers have also cried, women were rapped, siblings wept, fathers suffered due to the crimes committed by your fathers and brothers in 1970 but you and your mindset is still the same. You will again be disgraced by the same nature you are referring to.
All it takes is one resignation from Mr. Ibad.
in Pakistan it is very easy to get confession from accused... Use of torture by the police for gleaning facts or to contrive the otherwise innocent accused to confess is constitutionally disallowed everywhere in the modern-day world as it’s an affront to human dignity. Torture contravenes the inherent dignity of a person. By torturing the accused, police violates the fundamental rights enshrined in Article 4, 9 and 14 of the Constitution. Pakistan has already signed the International Covenant on Civil and Political... Police torture is a colonial legacy, and red chili spray was one of the favorite tools by the police then, which used to extract confessions from the accused by applying this method. In fact, it’s a ready technique, still popular in Indo-Pakistan.... It was also pointed out that body parts most frequently targeted for battering included buttocks, foot soles, back, front and back of thighs, palms and wrists. The most common tool used to inflict severe pain is the cane-stick and a broad flat leather slipper (dipped in mustard oil to inflict maximum pain) more commonly known as Chhithar.....http://www.atimes.com/ind-pak/AL10Df02.html...hope ET will print it
@ashar: Insha Allah. A lot of mothers have cried, siblings wept, fathers suffered. Nature does not tolerate injustice for long.
So, it all comes down to Wali Babar, ONCE AGAIN.
Call a press conference, MQM :p
The killers must be punished under the law by all means.
I hope that this time Police or Rangers will not take any political pressure.
not surprised!!....truth is at last coming out.
Well done Shahid Hayat - you sound one honest guy
Y u blame mqm?
Is this the beginning of the end?
So now we soon going to witness a shut down again in Karachi?
