Pakistan to start campaign against Egypt

Colts to feature in Pool A in Hockey Junior World Cup.

KARACHI: Pakistan will meet Egypt in their opening match on December 6 as the International Hockey Federation (FIH) yesterday announced the schedule of the Hockey Junior World Cup that will be played in New Delhi, India.

As many as 16 teams, divided into four groups, will vie for top honours in the global event that will run from December 6 to 15. The top two teams from each group will advance into the quarter-finals.

Pakistan are placed in Pool A along with Germany, Belgium and Egypt.

The opening match of the group will be played between Pakistan and Egypt on the first day of the competition. The colts will play their next match against Germany on December 8 before playing their last group match against Belgium on December 10.

Pool B comprises Australia, Spain, Argentina and France while Pool C includes the Netherlands, South Korea, India and Canada. England, New Zealand, South Africa and Malaysia form Pool D.
