SHERGARH:

A case of ‘honour killing’ in Mardan claimed the lives of four members of a family after two more victims died a day after Monday’s attack.

According to Lond Khwar police station SHO Muhammad Fazil Khan, on Monday evening in Maskeenabad, Jalala, armed men barged into the house of 45-year-old Sher Muhammad, a photographer by profession, and opened fire.

Sher Muhammad along with his 14-year-old daughter Hina died on the spot while his wife Shahida, 12-year-old daughter Mahnaz and seven-year-old daughter Khadija were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Mardan in critical condition.

Shahida and Mahnaz succumbed to their injuries in the hospital on Tuesday while Khadija is said to be in stable condition.

SHO Khan further said Sher’s second wife Naheed filed an FIR against Wisal and Ubaid, residents of Surizai, Peshawar. Naheed told the police Wisal’s daughter had eloped with Sher’s son two months back.

Naheed added when the accused Wisal asked her deceased husband where his daughter was, Sher expressed ignorance after which he was shot dead.

Meanwhile, relatives and neighbours of the deceased family placed their bodies on Jalala Bridge and blocked traffic for over an hour.  They dispersed after Circle DSP Sajad Khan and SHO Muhammad Fazil Khan assured them the culprits would be arrested in
three days.
