PESHAWAR: Newly-appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) Professor Muhammad Tahir on Monday directed all staffers to improve cleanliness in the hospital along with their behaviour with patients.

Addressing an introductory meeting with all HMC staffers including heads of departments, doctors, nurses and janitorial staff, Tahir said HMC should be a modern and family orientated healthcare organisation which prides itself on providing excellent care and treatment to the community.

The CEO stressed the hospital should provide timely and specialist services to people living in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and even those who visit from Afghanistan.

“As bomb blasts are frequent in the province, we should be well-prepared in advance for any kind of critical situation and also keep our operation theatres ready for emergencies,” said Professor Tahir.

Additionally, the CEO said it would be the responsibility of the concerned wards’ in-charge to ensure cleanliness and the departments that fulfil the required criteria would be awarded certificates and prizes of Rs5,000.

Addressing doctors, Professor Tahir directed them to perform their duties diligently and maintain proper bedside manners when attending to patients. He also instructed them to visit the wards three times a day to monitor admitted patients.

The CEO further directed heads of the departments to bring any problems they were facing to his notice, claiming he would immediately work for the resolution of the issues with the help of Health Minister Shaukat Yousafzai.
