The family of 33-year-old man, who has been accused of blasphemy, wants him to be strictly punished for his ‘actions’.
*W, the alleged blasphemer, has been accused of desecrating the Holy Quran, and family members claimed he had been involved in similar incidents earlier as well.
Though most blasphemy cases are registered by neighbours or co-workers, in this particular incident, *W was brought to a Karachi police station by his uncle who is adamant that the person be punished.
“He has insulted our religion and anyone doing that should be sternly dealt with,” Qalandar Buksh, the complainant and the uncle of the accused said.
According to the family, it was on Friday afternoon that the accused, *W, an unmarried labourer committed the crime at his home in Buffer Zone.
A case under section 295-B has been registered at the police station.
If the accused is found guilty by the court, he can be sentenced to life imprisonment.
Family members of the accused clarified that *W is mentally stable, but recounted similar incidents in the past.
Meanwhile, the Station House Officer of the Taimuria Police Station, Sub Inspector Fayyaz told The Express Tribune that the accused had been seeking forgiveness.
The police officer ruled out personal enmity or property issues behind the incident.
On Saturday, *W was produced in the court and a magistrate has sent him on a judicial remand to the Karachi Central Jail till October 22.

Who will need enemies when uncles and relative are there. This law must be either repealed or amended, it has been used too often for nefarious reasons. This person must have some emotional problems because he volunteered to go to the police station with his so called uncle. They should also check on this uncle what kind of hidden motive he has in his sleeve.
Pakistan needs to understand there is a great potential in its people and playing with peoples emotions to control and let them be manipulated and controlled by self serving politicians and mullahs is not going to develop or strenghten Pakistan.

The man is either mentally unstable if he is doing this repeatedly in the country with such inhuman laws as blasphemy or the uncle's family is fabricating things and blaming him for that. His family background and all his relatives must be investigated. I bet he is the sole inheritor of his dead parents property. The case is clear. Jail the uncle and his family and let the accused have some time at peace at Edhi center and return to his property.

The uncle turns him in. Investigate what does the uncle stands to gain from this transaction. Previously, it used to be the "honor killing" for eliminating female claimants of family inheritance. These days it is the accusation of blasphemy. You don't have to eliminate your target, the state and the mullahs do the actual killing for you, free of charge, and no one can point finger back to you.
What a joke! Life imprisonment for blasphemy and mere few years for murder and rape of another human, in most case under age. Pakistan needs a reform!

It appears to be a rapid judgement based on the complaint of the family members. It is his family (uncle) who is the accuser. What about his father and mother?
Is the desecrated sample of the Holy Book has been produced?
Wow! Just Wow! When will Pakistan remove this blasphemy law from our constitution? If you don't like your neighbors, if you have a problem with peaceful Christians and Hindus, just say out loud that the person has done such a thing, and within minutes a mob will beat you up and hand you over. No one cares to find out if that was true or not. Plus, even our judiciary is full of "Parrhee likhe jahils" who send the victim to remands and waste their time and scar them for life.
This law must be abolished since it has been misused throughout. Whoeveer has stood against it has been murdered, with the murderer presented with showers of flower petals and support as if he is the hero of Islam. What is the difference between us and the Talibans then?
