FAISALABAD:

Dozens of labourers in Jhang staged a protest demonstration at Ayub Chowk on Saturday against brick kiln owners for not raising their wages.

The protestors wore chains and took out a rally led by Labour Qaumi Movement (LQM) leaders. LQM Chairman Baba Lateef told the media that “the labourers are being exploited by kiln owners.”

“The government has announced that every worker is paid Rs740 per day but the owners make them work at Rs300-400 per day,” he said.

The protestors staged a sit-in at Press Club road. They said they would go on a hunger strike if their demands were not met.
