A kidnapping suspect was caught and beaten up by residents of Sarfraz Colony before he was handed over to the police.
Police said the suspect was apparently trying to kidnap a two-year-old girl playing in front of her house.
They quoted some neighbours as saying that they heard the girl crying when the man picked her up. They said when they asked him why the child was crying, he got confused and tried to run. He was caught and beaten up with sticks.
The Ghulam Muhammadabad police were informed and rescued the man.
Police said the man had confessed to an attempting to kidnap the child. They said he had been hit in the head with bricks.
The child was handed over to its parents.
